Once the forms are created, workers pour concrete to the forms, smooth and cure the concrete and remove the forms to leave the finished panels.

Tilt-up Concrete Panels Ready to Stand
The tilt-up concrete panels are poured into forms that provide the exact size, shape and door openings to meet the design specifications. The tilt-up panels can be massive; this concrete panel weighs about 50,000 pounds. The largest concrete panel used for a tilt-up construction project weighed six times as much, over 150 tons.

Standing the Tilt-up Concrete Panels
The mobile crane lifts the tilt-up panel and tilts it into position over the footing. The row of concrete panels already in place give evidence to just how fast the process for putting up tilt-up panels goes. An experienced crew can tilt up as many as 30 concrete panels a day.

Brace the Tilt-up Concrete Panels
Once the concrete panel is set in place, the crew attaches the braces to the slab to keep the panel standing until it is attached to the other tilt-up panels and the roofing system.

Move on to the Next Panel
When the panel is braced, the crew connects the crane to the next panel and repeats the process. A panel can be stood in very short time – 10 minutes in some cases. An experience tilt-up construction crew can stand 30 panels in a day – as a result, the building appears to pop up overnight. As you can see, a process that would take months for traditional concrete construction happens in a matter of weeks with tilt-up, making it a fast, efficient and effective approach to commercial building construction.
